Past Continuous Present
2018 / Curatorial Object / Dimensions Variable
Choose six movements and put them in the right order.
This idea of choreographic composition that Merce Cunningham proposed during a masterclass, does not stray too far from what could be an essential definition of curating. This thought triggered a reflection around the idea of choreography as an exhibition device.
To curate an exhibition using the body as its material.
Past Continuous Present aims to be a performative exhibition device. Several archive images pass through the body, while the voice constructs a discursive frame speculating around the pieces that it unfolds. It is, in turn, an attempt to historicize the body, trying to move away from the a-historical collage that reigns in contemporary performance.
